Mission
The School Commons
Committee is responsible for initiatives that foster community spirit.
The community is broadly interpreted to mean current faculty, staff, and students, alumni,
and local companies with roots in UW, who are members of the
'extended family'.
Its activities include:
- Ongoing maintenance of the faculty research directory
- Research group presentations
- School achievements award. Recognizes leaders in the community
- Nominating faculty for external awards
- Distinguished speaker series
- Maintenance of a 'Guide for New Faculty Members'
- Other ad hoc items carried out by the former External Relations Committee that are consistent with the charter of the Commons Committee
