Using solid data from ITU and EPIA, it is clear that solar energy growth literally parallels that of cell phones. Take a look at these two charts. On the left, it appears that cumulative solar installations outstrips cell phone subscriptions in the first 14 years of technology deployment. This is actually only an artifact of the arbitrary selection of the base year. On the right hand side, the real story is clear: the exponent is nearly the same, so that on a log-linear scale the growth curves are linear and parallel, i.e., with the same slope. The conclusion is evident.
