Title: Smarter Energy Systems from IBM Research India
Abstract: Satisfying the ever-increasing demand for energy without impacting the environment has become a major issue around the world. To address this issue, researchers have proposed three main strategies: 1. reducing the transmission/distribution losses in the grid, 2. improving the energy efficiency of electrical appliances, and 3. incorporating renewable energy sources. This seminar will provide an overview of the energy challenges and present a few systems that have been developed at IBM Research India to address those challenges.
